Already into October! We have had some sunny days so far this month, so there has been time to finish the sheep barn project and to get fields ready for cover crop seed. I still have beets, kale and fennel bulb going as well as sage, rosemary and mint. The last Bow Little Market was last week, but they will be having a Harvest Market(Oct 22) and Holiday Market (Nov 12) so stay be sure to check these out! I have also had a lot of family in town this past week–cousins, sister, aunt and uncle. It is great to gather with them and show them around the farm. We went to a fun cider pressing party last Saturday where I got see a lot of the busy young folks in the valley that are coming to the end of the growing season. I admit that I did more catching up than press operating, but it was fun to see people relaxing there and talking about plans for the winter.
For the farm, we are helping with an Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Oct 23rd that is being hosted by Slow Food Skagit and WSU. Hope that you can make it! Also Natalie is offering an etching class on November 19th-20th. There is still space available and it will be a great workshop. Stay tuned for more information about 2012 workshop list a h.f. studio.
Enjoy the harvest, the gatherings and new wave of crisp, cool weather that has arrived.
